
Hermitage, Pennsylvania is a growing, vibrant home rule charter third-class city with approximately 16,000 residents. It is one of several communities in the Shenango Valley located in Mercer County along the Pennsylvania - Ohio border and within ninety minutes of Pittsburgh, Erie, Cleveland, and Akron. Easy access to Hermitage is available through major highways such as Interstates 80, 79 & 376.
The City of Hermitage was first settled in 1796, and the Township of Hickory was incorporated in 1833 from portions of the Shenango and Pymatuning townships. Following the incorporation of the cities of Sharon and Farrell and the Boroughs of Sharpsville and Wheatland, the remainder of the Township was incorporated into a First Class Township.
