Michael is a trusted advisor on taxation and advising on both venture capital and family offices. He has more than 35 years of experience servicing clients in industries such as private equity, real estate, technology, professional sports, media and entertainment, distribution, and crypto, NFTS & blockchain.

Michael has assisted numerous clients in navigating complex financial transactions with challenging characteristics that require tailored solutions. Transactions such as: a sale of a $2.3 billion business, an IPO for one of Palm Beach County’s largest companies, a purchase of a $60 million aircraft, a sale of a $58 million yacht, the formation of an iconic sports museum, formation of a new NBA franchise and the creation of several family offices. Michael has also overseen several large merger and acquisition transactions, major real estate development projects, high-level charitable gifting opportunities, and orchestrated wealth transfer planning for billionaires, CEOs and famous athletes.

In 2018, after 25 years of combined service at Arthur Andersen and Andersen Tax, Michael early retired from the firm to launch the West Palm Beach office of HBK CPAs & Consultants. He now coordinates the activities of tax, accounting, financial planning, and valuation professionals in serving public companies, closely held businesses, venture capital firms, high net wealth families and family offices, and corporate executives.

Previously, as Office Managing Director of Andersen Tax’s Florida practice, Michael also served as the Head of the firm’s Corporate Team for several of those years and was the firm’s expert on the tax ramifications related to corporate aircraft. Before co-founding Andersen Tax in 2002, Michael was a Tax Partner at Arthur Andersen, where he oversaw the West Palm Beach tax department and the real estate tax group for Florida. In addition, he served as a member of the firm-wide technical advisory groups for both corporations and pass-through entities.

Michael has been a frequent speaker at the University of Florida, the Florida Institute of CPAs, Florida Tax Institute, Palm Beach County Estate Planning Council, and the Planned Giving Council. He is also an author of several articles on the tax ramifications of the personal use of corporate aircraft, tax issues associated with establishing Florida residency, family wealth transfer planning and several charitable giving strategies.

Additionally, his commitment to giving back to the community is evident in Philanthropy Tank (an educational mentoring program that fuels and inspires the next generation of youth change leaders to find solutions to community problems), which Michael co-founded. He also serves as Treasurer of the Economic Council Palm Beach County, University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting Advisory Board and on the finance committee for the Palm Beach County School District. Michael received the 2018 Hats Off Nonprofit Volunteer of the Year Award from Non-Profits First and was recently inducted into the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry.
