Brian Alwine, CPA, ABV, ASA has joined HBK Valuation Group LLC’s (HBKVG) Naples, Florida office as a Senior Manager. He has more than 15 years of experience in business valuation, forensic and litigation support and intangible asset appraisal.
In his career, Brian has provided appraisal services for clients ranging from large publicly-traded companies to entrepreneurial closely-held businesses. He has expertise in reporting requirements dictated by the Internal Revenue Service and has provided valuation services for use in financial statement reporting, succession planning, and tax compliance, such as built-in gain, charitable donation, and gift and estate tax reporting purposes. His industry expertise includes Agribusiness, Construction, Dealerships, Health Care, Manufacturing, Restaurants, Retail and Wholesale Services, and Transportation, among others.
Brian’s intangible asset appraisal and accounting experience includes purchase price allocations in accordance with ASC 805 and IFRS 3, impairment testing, and other fair value reporting matters. He has appraised intangible assets such as contractual relationships, customer lists and relationships, non-competition agreements, patents, proprietary and specialized knowledge, trademarks and trade names, to list a few.
Having testified in deposition and trial as an expert witness, Brian has provided litigation support services in business valuation and forensic matters related to dissolution of marriage and shareholder disputes. He has been retained by both plaintiffs and defendants, or their counsel, and been appointed as the sole or neutral expert in several cases.
Yet, he is most motivated by helping people.
“It is gratifying to help a small business owner understand the value of their business in succession planning, to solve the puzzle of an intangible asset analysis in a complex purchase price allocation, or to help parties engaged in a legal dispute to reach a settlement resolution through clear independent analysis,” he said.
It is that passion for detailed, proactive client service that led him to HBKVG, known in the industry as HBK Valuation, Litigation & Forensics.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Brian aboard, especially in his capacity and with his track record for success. He’s earned a well-deserved reputation for technical excellence and accountability and is already helping us tailor our services and widen our footprint in southwest Florida,” says Kelly Carrier, ASA, CBA, CPA/ABV, CFP® and Principal-in-Charge of HBKVG. “He’s proven to be a great addition to the team already.”
