The New Jersey Division of Taxation issued guidance on the upcoming sales tax holiday in accordance with New Jersey law. This year’s sales tax holiday will run from August 24th through September 2nd. The sales tax holiday applies to retail sales to non-business purchasers of specified items.
The following items are exempt from sales tax during the sales tax holiday:
- Computers with a sales price of less than $3,000
- School Art Supplies
- School Computer Supplies
- School Instructional Materials
- School Supplies
- Sport or Recreational Equipment
This sales tax holiday is part of broader state and local taxes policies aimed at reducing the tax burden on residents during the back-to-school season.
