HBK CPAs & Consultants (HBK) continues to win recognition by the accounting industry as one of the nation’s leading accounting firms. The recently released 2022 Inside Public Accounting (IPA) “Survey and Analysis of Firms” ranks HBK the nation’s 48th largest accounting firm, up from 52nd in the 2021 IPA survey.

According to the magazine, “IPA 500 firms are ranked by U.S. net revenues and are compiled by analyzing the nearly 600 responses received this year.” It identifies the study as “the most comprehensive list of North American public accounting firms available.” The 2022 study is IPA’s 32nd annual ranking.

The IPA study follows a March announcement from Accounting Today (AT), which also lists HBK as the nation’s 49th largest firm, up from 50th in that publication’s 2021 survey. That AT study also ranked HBK sixth in the “Great Lakes Region,” which the magazine defines as firms with home offices based in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

“The study is one more validation of our commitment to work collaboratively across service lines and geographic regions to develop comprehensive solutions for our clients,” noted HBK CEO and Managing Principal Christopher Allegretti, CPA. “Given the challenges posed over the past three years by COVID and the related issues, that focus remains key to proactively addressing our clients’ finances and delivering the financial support they need to reach their financial goals.”

According to an exhaustive study by Forbes, HBK ranks as one of America’s most recommended tax and accounting firms. The magazine’s “America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms,” released on December 2, is the third of what promises to be an annual study to determine which U.S. CPA firms are recommended most by their clients and other accounting professionals. Of the 273 firms identified, 200 were recommended for tax and 200 were recommended for accounting. HBK was among 177 firms that were recommended for both tax and accounting services.

“Your tax and accounting firm’s first goal should be acting as the trusted advisor to the CFO. That’s where it starts, but as the CFO role has grown functionally, the best tax and accounting firms are growing with it.” the Forbes article stated.

“Forbes’ perspective on what a prospective client should look for in an accounting firm mirrors HBK and how we have developed our services over the years,” noted HBK Managing Principal and CEO Christopher M. Allegretti. “Companies benefit most from the insight and understanding of a firm steeped in experience and both technically capable and industry savvy. Moreover, we’re delighted to be so highly and broadly recommended by our clients and other industry professionals.”

The Forbes article included advice to businesses about choosing an accounting firm.

“Why should corporations review their relationships with outside tax and accounting professionals now? It’s likely that there’s a lot more the pros could be doing for you—audit and tax and beyond—to protect and enhance your business.”

“We couldn’t have said it better,” Mr. Allegretti noted.

The magazine’s “America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms,” released on December 3, is the second of what promises to be an annual study to determine which U.S. CPA firms are recommended most by their clients and other accounting professionals. Of the 278 firms identified, 250 were recommended for tax and 200 were recommended for accounting. HBK was among 172 firms that were recommended for both tax and accounting services.

“What should you look for in a firm?” the Forbes article asked, then answered, “A team dedicated to your industry—whether it’s cannabis or manufacturing—is a must. But make sure you also ask about what other value-added services are on offer, like a state and local tax practice, a wealth practice, or an IT advisory group. Has the firm itself embraced technology?”
