ODT Changes Filing Date

The Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT) has changed the date for filing 2016 IT 3 (Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements) and accompanying W-2s to January 31, 2017.

Please be reminded that all employers with 250 or more staff members who fill out W-2 forms are required to send this information on magnetic media (NOT paper or electronic filing) and through use of an approved format. The ODT has waived the requirement for employers that issue less than 250 W-2 forms, although these employers are also encouraged to send W-2 information on magnetic media.

The ODT moved the due date for filing 2016 IT 3 (Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements) and accompanying W-2s to try to prevent taxpayer fraud. If you have any questions, please contact your HBK representative and we’ll be glad to help.
